Here’s a new installment from one of our own. This time it’s from Alejandro Maestro, a friend and collaborator of La Familia, who curated the previous exhibition at La Familia. Without a doubt, one of our own.

COMO FUERON TUS COMIENZOS?

Mis comienzos fueron comprándome una cámara digital y disparando a diestro y siniestro, no sabía ni lo que fotografiaba pero me había dicho un fotógrafo que conocía que disparase mucho, no sé si era un buen consejo pero le hice caso, jejeje. Luego estudié en una escuela de fotografía de mi ciudad y comencé a tocar un poco más a fondo la fotografía. El verdadero aprendizaje fue cuando acabé todos los estudios e inicié algún proyecto que otro.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?

I started by buying a digital camera and taking pictures left and right. I didn’t even know what I was photographing, but a photographer I knew had told me to take a lot of pictures. I don’t know if it was good advice, but I listened to him, hehe. Then I studied at a photography school in my city and started to delve a little deeper into photography. The real learning came when I finished all my studies and started a few projects.

PROYECTOS (ACTUALES/FUTUROS)

Proyectos actuales no sabría que decirte, ando un poco perdido después de los meses de pandemia y ya ha pasado tiempo…Tengo algunas cosas en discos duros que posiblemente acabe publicando este mismo año. Sigo pensando diariamente qué fotografías hacer pero me cuesta arrancar,. La realidad es que voy haciendo cosas y posiblemente no tardando mucho inicie un nuevo proyecto que si te digo la verdad, no sé si verá la luz algún dia.

PROJECTS (CURRENT/FUTURE)

I’m not sure what to tell you about my current projects. I’m a bit lost after the pandemic months, and it’s been a while now… I have some things on hard drives that I might end up publishing this year. I still think about what photos to take every day, but it’s hard to get started. The truth is, I’m working on things, and I’ll probably start a new project soon, but to be honest, I don’t know if it will ever see the light of day.
