Empezamos nueva sección, uno de los nuestros, donde os acercamos a fotógrafos, músicos, mecánicos, artistas que consideramos parte de nuestra familia. Y como se suele decir empezamos la casa por el tejado. El primero en pasar es el artista internacional Dirk Behlau del que cada año puedes encontrar su calendario en La Familia, así como alguno de sus proyectos como el Alive.

We’re starting a new section, “uno de los nuestros” , where we introduce you to photographers, musicians, mechanics, and artists we consider part of our family. And as they say, we’re putting the cart before the horse. First up is the international artist Dirk Behlau, whose calendar you can find in La Familia every year, along with some of his projects like Alive.

¿CÓMO FUERON TUS PRINCIPIOS?

Soy Dirk Behlau, The Pixeleye, de Alemania. Como fotógrafo, cineasta y director creativo, creo imágenes impactantes y cinematográficas que combinan intensidad, atmósfera y atmósfera. Mi trabajo se centra en crear mundos que se sientan vivos, auténticos e inolvidables.
No fundé Pixeleye Industries con un gran plan de negocio: surgió de la obsesión, la curiosidad y una profunda necesidad de crear imágenes que parecieran honestas y poderosas.
Desde muy pequeño, me fascinaron las imágenes: el diseño gráfico, la fotografía, el cine y la forma en que las imágenes podían contar historias sin palabras. Pasé años aprendiendo a ver: a encuadrar, a capturar la atmósfera y a plasmar las emociones en imágenes. Antes de que existiera Pixeleye Industries, ya trabajaba en diferentes campos creativos, experimentando, aprendiendo y perfeccionando mi propio lenguaje visual.
En 1999 , fundé Pixeleye Industries para reunir todas estas disciplinas bajo un mismo techo. Lo que empezó como un pequeño estudio creativo evolucionó rápidamente a algo más grande: una plataforma donde el diseño gráfico, la fotografía, la cinematografía y la consultoría visual podían coexistir y complementarse. Nunca quise limitarme a un solo medio; para mí, todo está conectado.
Gran parte de la identidad de Pixeleye proviene de mis intereses personales y estilo de vida. Siempre me ha atraído la cultura automovilística estadounidense, las escenas custom, la música, las pin-ups y los entornos crudos y auténticos. Estas influencias moldearon naturalmente mi estilo fotográfico y, con el tiempo, se convirtieron en una seña de identidad reconocible. No solo documento, sino que construyo mundos, estados de ánimo y narrativas.
El nombre Pixeleye refleja mi forma de trabajar: ver la imagen en mi cabeza antes de pulsar el obturador. Se trata de instinto, precisión y confianza en la propia visión. Esa mentalidad se convirtió en la base de la empresa y en mi forma de abordar cada proyecto.
Pixeleye Industries creció orgánicamente gracias al trabajo, la reputación y las relaciones a largo plazo. Lo que empezó como una salida creativa personal se convirtió en un negocio internacional, lo que me permitió colaborar con artistas, bandas, revistas y marcas globales, manteniéndome siempre fiel a mi estética y mi forma de trabajar.
En esencia, Pixeleye Industries sigue siendo lo que era al principio: un lugar donde la pasión, la experiencia y la narración visual se unen, impulsado por el instinto, construido sobre la artesanía y alimentado por un amor de toda la vida por las imágenes fuertes.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
 
I’m Dirk Behlau — The Pixeleye from Germany. As a photographer, filmmaker, and creative director, I create bold, cinematic visuals that blend intensity, mood, and atmosphere. My work is all about crafting worlds that feel alive, authentic, and unforgettable.
I didn’t start Pixeleye Industries with a big business plan — it grew out of obsession, curiosity, and a deep need to create images that felt honest and powerful.
From an early age, I was fascinated by visuals: graphic design, photography, film, and the way images could tell stories without words. I spent years teaching myself how to see — how to frame, how to capture atmosphere, and how to translate emotion into visuals. Before Pixeleye Industries existed, I was already working across different creative fields, experimenting, learning, and refining my own visual language.
In 1999, I founded Pixeleye Industries as a way to bring all of these disciplines together under one roof. What started as a small creative studio quickly evolved into something bigger — a platform where graphic design, photography, filmmaking, and visual consulting could coexist and feed into one another. I never wanted to be limited to just one medium; for me, everything is connected.
A huge part of Pixeleye’s identity comes from my personal interests and lifestyle. I’ve always been drawn to American car culture, custom scenes, music, pin-ups, and raw, authentic environments. These influences naturally shaped my photographic style and, over time, became a recognizable signature. I don’t just document — I build worlds, moods, and narratives.
The name Pixeleye reflects how I work: seeing the image in my head before I press the shutter. It’s about instinct, precision, and trust in your own vision. That mindset became the foundation of the company and the way I approach every project.
Pixeleye Industries grew organically through work, reputation, and long-term relationships. What began as a personal creative outlet turned into an international business, allowing me to collaborate with artists, bands, magazines, and global brands — always staying true to my aesthetic and my way of working.
At its core, Pixeleye Industries is still what it was at the beginning: a place where passion, experience, and visual storytelling come together — driven by instinct, built on craft, and fueled by a lifelong love for strong imagery.

PROYECTOS ACTUALES/FUTUROS

Actualmente, dedico la mayor parte de mi energía creativa al trabajo musical y visual con la banda finlandesa de rock de culto Leningrad Cowboys , que ahora se presenta como LC Cowboys . He sido su fotógrafo y cineasta oficial durante años , creando videos musicales, visuales promocionales y contenido que ayuda a definir su identidad salvaje y teatral, así como su personalidad escénica.
Trabajar con los Cowboys es una de esas colaboraciones donde mi mundo visual y el suyo encajan a la perfección. Actualmente, estamos creando contenido nuevo y visuales actualizados juntos, incluyendo material para su nuevo sitio web oficial y el ciclo de regreso de la banda en 2025. Además, continúo mi colaboración a largo plazo con Blind Guardian , realizando fotografías y dirigiendo contenido de video, ya sea material promocional, visuales en vivo o imágenes de la banda que capturan la energía y la mitología de su música.
En todo lo que hago últimamente, ya sea con los Cowboys, Blind Guardian u otros artistas que me apasionan, el objetivo es el mismo: aportar intensidad cinematográfica, atmósfera y profundidad emocional a cada fotograma . No solo documento bandas, sino que ayudo a crear un mundo visual que resuene con su sonido, su actitud y sus fans.
Diamond Kobra es mi proyecto personal de banda: un espacio donde la música, la imaginería y la energía pura se fusionan. Con Diamond Kobra, puedo explorar los mundos que siempre me han atraído: riffs potentes, narrativas dramáticas y paisajes sonoros que parecen desbordantes. Es un espacio donde puedo experimentar libremente, fusionando influencias del hard rock, el metal y atmósferas cinematográficas en un sonido a la vez agresivo e hipnótico.
Para mí, Diamond Kobra no es solo música: es una experiencia visual y emocional. Cada canción, cada riff y cada letra están creados con una mirada cinematográfica, diseñados para transportar a los oyentes a un mundo oscuro, poderoso y desenfrenado.
En esta etapa, todo en lo que trabajo, ya sea cine, fotografía o proyectos comerciales, se trata de equilibrio: mantenerme fiel a mi visión mientras evoluciono constantemente, explorar nuevas historias y avanzar mi lenguaje visual.

CURRENT/FUTURE PROJECTS
 
Right now, most of my creative energy is going into music and visual work with the Finnish cult rock band Leningrad Cowboys — now performing as LC Cowboys. I’ve been their official photographer and filmmaker for years, creating music videos, promotional visuals, and content that helps define their wild, theatrical identity and stage persona. 
Working with the Cowboys is one of those collaborations where my visual world and theirs just click. We’re currently building out fresh content and updated visuals together, including material for their new official website and the band’s ongoing comeback cycle in 2025. Alongside that, I continue my long‑term work with Blind Guardian, shooting photography and directing video content — whether it’s promo material, live visuals, or band imagery that captures the energy and mythology of their music.
In everything I do these days — whether with the Cowboys, Blind Guardian, or other artists I’m passionate about — the goal is the same: to bring cinematic intensity, mood, and emotional depth into every frame. I’m not just documenting bands, I’m helping to shape a visual world that resonates with their sound, their attitude, and their fans.
Diamond Kobra is my personal band project — a place where music, imagery, and raw energy collide. With Diamond Kobra, I get to explore the worlds I’ve always been drawn to: heavy riffs, dramatic storytelling, and sonic landscapes that feel larger than life. It’s a space where I can experiment freely, blending influences from hard rock, metal, and cinematic atmospheres into a sound that’s both aggressive and hypnotic.
For me, Diamond Kobra isn’t just music — it’s a visual and emotional experience. Every song, every riff, and every lyric is crafted with a cinematic eye, designed to transport listeners into a world that’s dark, powerful, and unrestrained. 
At this stage, everything I work on — whether film, photography, or commercial projects — is about balance: staying true to my vision while constantly evolving, exploring new stories, and pushing my visual language forward.

INFLUENCIAS

Me siento profundamente influenciado por el lenguaje visual distintivo y la intensidad narrativa de cineastas como Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch y Quentin Tarantino , artistas que ven el cine no solo como una narración, sino como una experiencia psicológica y sensorial inmersiva. Desde la precisión obsesiva de Kubrick, sus composiciones simétricas y su fría grandeza existencial, hasta la lógica onírica, la ambigüedad inquietante y la inquietud subconsciente de Lynch, y la audaz estilización, los diálogos agudos y la violencia sin complejos de Tarantino, me inspiro en su audaz compromiso con la atmósfera, el ritmo y la identidad.
Esta base cinematográfica se fusiona con la carga emocional y la energía pura de la música que ha moldeado mi paisaje interior. La pesadez catastrófica y la atmósfera siniestra de Black Sabbath evocan una sensación de terror cósmico y una potencia de combustión lenta. El minimalismo mecanizado y el pulso futurista de Kraftwerk inspiran una fascinación por la repetición, el control y la belleza de la precisión, mientras que la agresividad y la velocidad implacables de Motörhead infunden urgencia, coraje y un impulso inflexible, casi temerario.

Mi estética se inclina hacia lo hipnótico, lo confrontativo y lo emocionalmente intenso: una obra que perdura, inquieta y se niega a explicarse por completo.
En esencia, mi visión creativa trata de dar forma a experiencias que sean a la vez viscerales y reflexivas: momentos meticulosamente elaborados pero crudos, calculados pero vivos, mecánicos pero profundamente humanos, inquietantes pero imposibles de olvidar.

INFLUENCES 
 
I am deeply influenced by the distinct visual language and narrative intensity of filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch, and Quentin Tarantino — artists who treat cinema not merely as storytelling, but as an immersive psychological and sensory experience. From Kubrick’s obsessive precision, symmetrical compositions, and cold, existential grandeur, to Lynch’s dreamlike logic, unsettling ambiguity, and subconscious unease, and Tarantino’s bold stylization, razor-sharp dialogue, and unapologetic violence, I draw inspiration from their fearless commitment to mood, rhythm, and identity.
This cinematic foundation is fused with the emotional weight and raw energy of music that has shaped my inner landscape. The doom-laden heaviness and ominous atmosphere of Black Sabbath evoke a sense of cosmic dread and slow-burn power. Kraftwerk’s mechanized minimalism and futuristic pulse inform a fascination with repetition, control, and the beauty of precision, while Motörhead’s relentless aggression and speed inject urgency, grit, and an uncompromising, almost reckless momentum.
Together, these influences create a tension between control and chaos, elegance and brutality, structure and distortion. I am drawn to stark contrasts: silence colliding with noise, symmetry breaking into disorder, and moments of calm giving way to visceral impact. My aesthetic leans toward the hypnotic, the confrontational, and the emotionally charged — work that lingers, unsettles, and refuses to fully explain itself.
At its core, my creative vision is about shaping experiences that are both visceral and thoughtful — moments that are meticulously crafted yet raw, calculated yet alive, mechanical yet deeply human, haunting yet impossible to forget.
