Today, our friends at Madworks join us in the “One of Our Own” section. We’re honored to consider them part of the family. Any of their products will instantly win you over, and we also share a passion for motorcycles.

¿COMO FUE EL COMIENZO?
Los primeros años los dediqué a esculturas en hierro y tallas en piedra que acababan en manos de coleccionistas. Isabel se dedicaba a la cerámica artística y a la escultura y tras ganar ambos varios premios los comienzos fueron relativamente fáciles pues nos llovían los encargos, así que en 2001 unimos fuerzas creando originales con los que clientes sacaban tiradas en bronce. También salió mucho trabajo para instituciones y marcas hasta que decidimos dedicarnos a lo que realmente nos gustaba y surgió MadWorks en 2010 . En la actualidad aunque seguimos haciendo encargos lo hemos reducido solo a los pocos proyectos que realmente nos interesan.

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?
For the first few years, I dedicated myself to iron sculptures and stone carvings, which ended up in the hands of collectors. Isabel focused on artistic ceramics and sculpture, and after we both won several awards, the beginnings were relatively easy, as commissions poured in. So, in 2001, we joined forces, creating original pieces that clients then cast in bronze. We also received a lot of work for institutions and brands until we decided to dedicate ourselves to what we truly loved, and MadWorks was born in 2010. Currently, although we continue to take commissions, we have reduced them to only the few projects that genuinely interest us.

¿COMO SURGIÓ LA VIRGEN DE LOS PISTONES?
La Virgen de los Pistones surgió inevitablemente por nuestra pasión por la escultura y por   las motos: Por un lado, siempre nos ha interesado la escultura como objeto con carga simbólica, casi mágica: tótems, reliquias, como objetos que están creados no solo para mirar sino que buscan una relación mas profunda. Por otro, la moto forma parte de mi vida de manera esencial.
HOW DID THE VIRGIN OF THE PISTONS COME ABOUT?
The Virgin of the Pistons inevitably arose from our passion for sculpture and motorcycles. On the one hand, we’ve always been interested in sculpture as an object with symbolic, almost magical, weight: totems, relics, objects created not just to be looked at but to seek a deeper connection. On the other hand, motorcycles are an essential part of my life.

 PROYECTOS ACTUALES/FUTUROS

Nuestro proyecto más importante para 2026 y en el que estamos centrando nuestras fuerzas actualmente es en el cambio de taller. Dejamos tras 25 años una nave industrial para irnos a la sierra de Madrid donde estamos preparando nuestro nuevo taller donde podremos vivir también y así tener más tiempo para que crear todas esas cosas nuevas que están a la espera.

CURRENT/FUTURE PROJECTS
Our most important project for 2026, and the one we’re currently focusing our efforts on, is moving to a new workshop. After 25 years in an industrial building, we’re relocating to the mountains near Madrid, where we’re preparing our new workshop. This new space will also allow us to live there, giving us more time to create all the new things we have in the pipeline.

UN DESEO

Mi deseo es que el mundo de la moto no se diluya ni se domestique. Que haya relevo y que sigamos defendiendo la moto como cultura, no solo como producto. Que nos mantengamos fuertes y unidos.

A WISH
My wish is that the world of motorcycling doesn’t fade away or become domesticated. That there will be a new generation and that we will continue to defend motorcycling as a culture, not just as a product. That we remain strong and united.
